Chemical Engineering Department (CED) is a part from Engineering Faculty in University of Indonesia. They came up with a need to revise their website. CED feels that their current website were difficult for content updating, difficult for display editing and less attractive -contain too much text- especially for end-user who visit the website.
CED also came up with the idea to built an online learning system (E-learning) to support it educational activities. The provided university's E-learning facility were considered to be much crowded and lack of focus to the course activity. According to CED the E-learning system functionality is acknowledge and have better appliance if it is built specifically and by narrowing its scope. Therefore, Bening came up with the proposal to revise the current website and to develop specific E-Learning System to fulfill and to support educational activities in CED.
Business Challenge
There isn't any significant challenge in this project, considering the experience that we have in website development. As for the development of E-Learning system, we were customizing Moodle (special E-learning open source software) to meet the CED's requirements.
The project challenge is actually lies in the deployment of the application. Apparently the CED's server interface software was not supporting the version that were used in E-Learning system development. To solve the problem, we gave an extra help to update the software eventhough it requires additional time and effort.
How We Helped
To revise CED's website, Bening develop new website for CED. This new website accomodate the easiness of usage (including to add or to edit contents), better structure of display, attractive look and friendly interface, also the easiness to add images or pictures.
While for the development of E-Learning sytem, we modified moodle according the requirements from CED. There are various features that is used to support educational activities in CED. Combining the course materials and communication facility, this E-Learning system is surely taking and running its role. Now, it is possible for CED to run the course or learning activities anytime anywhere.
